How many letters are in the Morse code alphabet?
International Morse covers the 26 Latin letters, the digits 0–9 and around 20 punctuation marks. Letters use one to four elements; digits always use five.
What is the easiest way to learn Morse code?
Learn letters by sound, not by looking at dots and dashes. The Koch method starts with two letters at full speed and adds one each time you copy 90% correctly, usually combined with Farnsworth spacing.
What does SOS mean in Morse code?
SOS does not stand for words. It was chosen as the distress signal because ··· −−− ··· is short, symmetrical and unmistakable.
Is Morse code still used?
Yes, by amateur radio operators, in aviation and maritime navigation beacons that identify themselves in Morse, and as an accessibility input method on some phones.
