The mistakes it catches most
- Sound-alike words: their / there / they're, its / it's, affect / effect.
- Agreement: “the list of files are” → “the list of files is”; in Spanish or French, adjective endings that do not match the noun.
- Pronoun case: “me and Sam will review” → “Sam and I will review”.
- Punctuation: comma splices, missing commas after introductory clauses, French spacing before ? and !.
- Spelling in the selected language, without “correcting” names and technical terms that are spelled on purpose.
Grammar check a translation
A translation can be grammatically perfect and still say the wrong thing, or say the right thing with a clumsy ending. Run the two checks separately: use the translator's back-translation to confirm meaning, then paste the translated text here with its language selected to polish the grammar.

Is the grammar checker free?
Yes, free with no account. Each check handles up to 4,000 characters, roughly 650 words.
Which languages can it check?
English plus more than 20 other languages, including Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Japanese and Chinese. Choose "Detect language" if you are not sure.
Does it rewrite my text?
By default it only fixes spelling, grammar and punctuation and keeps your wording. Choose "Make it more formal" or "Make it more concise" if you want light style edits as well.
Can I check a translation with it?
Yes. Paste the translated text and choose the target language. It catches agreement and punctuation errors, but it cannot tell you whether the meaning matches the original; use back-translation in the translator for that.
Is my text stored?
No. It is sent to the language model only when you press Check and is not saved.
